  • Talba, a mole Moreau, provides us with surgical/combat dermal patches that release an opioid providing DR 2 for 4 hours.
  • Intuit, a bird Moreau, tells us about “The Alley Cat,” an assumed-to-be human slave who gets out of the pen at nights and leaves graffiti with politically agitating messages that encourage human-Moreau cooperation, signed with a cat paw print.
  • Optat sets the cornfield on fire as we make our way to the Space Needle, where a disintegrating laser is housed.
  • The Chihuly Glass Center acts as Atomac’s material science and engineering center. They seem to be researching repairing/modifying power armor, but their experiments indicate a lack of knowledge.
  • Ruth, Earl, and Vania program the systems to overheat to dangerous levels at a delay and cause explosions that will disable the facility. P0P1 uses the tools to create counterfeit bottle caps. Optat lights the overseer’s office on fire, destroying their research records.
  • Sciurus is unable to withstand the heat and keeps watch. He draws Jack’s attention to clavers on top of the Space Needle, who seem to notice activity within Chihuly. They don’t escalate it to the main radio channel in deference to the ongoing emergency, but upon the detonation of the overseer’s office, they report the fire, causing confusion with the cornfield fire.
  • Jack gets on the radio and blames the fire on P0P1, which allows the rest of us to temporarily bluff the clavers and pretend to be allies.
  • Another party of clavers using a coyote Moreau for tracking approaches from the west, but the Moreau seems to detect Optat and leads them away to the south.
  • We reach the Space Needle and start ascending via its bodged elevator when we see the laser go off. It hits the northern human barracks, but nothing seems to happen. Vania says that it looks like an Aklo teleportation ray.
  • Director Almara, a scientist and the civilian head of Atomac, meets us at the top with a squad of clavers. Vania intimidates her by speaking Aklo. Amara orders the clavers to attack, diving for the control panel. She launches a sonic attack and then attempts to teleport away, but Ruth drains the machine and causes her to implode.
  • The leader of the clavers is Santa Muerte, the Atomac head of security. Her armor as well as a black and white skull tattoo on her face are infused with the Atomac self-destructing nanotech, enough to constitute a nanohive within her body.
  • Optat makes a radio announcement that she has killed Muerte and Amara and orders the clavers to surrender. The clavers attempt to detonate Optat’s collar and, when that fails, threaten to detonate the rest of the Moreaus. She counters with a threat to turn the disintegration cannon on the facility, instigating a standoff.
