The slavers arrive at the burning bowling alley, and Krieger demands an explanation. Megan leads the telling of our cover story, convincing the slavers that The Nine Pins are guilty of the deaths of our guards and that we salvaged only one of the detonators. Krieger is furious at the string of bad luck he experiencing but doesn't seem to blame us.

Our conversation is interrupted by the super mutant awakening from his drug-induced sleep. Parker attempts to tranquilize him but realizes that the drugs they were sold by "McCarthy" were nothing but colored water. The super mutant gains consciousness and speaks with much more lucidity than expected. He introduces himself as a traveling knight in search of the kingdom of Camelot and indicates that he was trapped by the slavers after they fooled him into rescuing a "damsel" in distress.

At this point, we hear a distant rumbling that we quickly identify as the approach of hundreds of mole rats, drawn by the fumes from the burning bowling alley. The slavers load up the truck and get ready attack the mole rats. Idith makes sure to load the duffel bag full of mole rat attractant-doused snack cakes into the truck.

Earl leads the creation of a makeshift barricade from which the slaves can make a stand. The super mutant pledges to help protect the non-combatants. Alder is able to influence the cloud of smoke from the bowling alley and finds that the mole rats are attracted by the fumes but also detonate upon contact.

Mac modifies the salvaged fission generator into a dirty bomb. He passed it to Idith, who lobbed it into the slavers' truck, where it promptly detonated into a giant mushroom cloud peppered with mole rat and slaver bits. The resulting EMP knocked her unconscious, but the party managed to save her and those caught in the fumes, then escape.

Newly freed, we set out to find shelter and food. On the first night, we were approached by a strange man riding a gigantic sidewinder snake. He brought a large metal box for Mac from his brother, which contained some caps, some rations, some other sundry items, and perhaps most importantly, an atlas of the local region. With this new tool in hand, we located the closest nearby settlement, called Othello, and made plans to head there at our earliest opportunity.
